Personally, I was not expecting any Personal Best’s from this competition due to the slower track and scorching temperatures.
Thankfully, the roller room had air-con, so we all huddled inside for a warm weather break!
Coach Liz Sissons was also seen competing on the day in the Throws Pentathalon, achieving Season’s Bests in Hammer, Discus and Javelin. In a brief discussion with her, I was happy to learn that this placed her at number 1 in the UK for these events, with the total points for the pentathlon ranking her at 1st place in the UK and 5th in the world.
Also representing the Weir Archer Academy in throws and sprints was Miles Edwardes, who achieved a Season’s Best of 17.85 metres in the javelin throw, a Personal Best (PB) of 22.90 metres in the discus throw and a PB time of 13.93 seconds in the 100 metre sprint. Huge congratulations to Miles on a very successful meeting!
Hosted by Kingston AC and Poly Harriers, the event featured sprints, distance runs, jumps and throws, with athletes competing from a mix of age groups and genders.
The competition is designed to teach basic athletics proficiencies through an enjoyable sports event.
