A Centre of Excellence for Disability Sport


David Weir, CBE and Jenny Archer, MBE have been working together for over 10 years. They have developed a new way of coaching and training which has resulted in the ‘WeirWolf’, achieving outstanding wheelchair athletics results. David and Jenny now want to pass on their knowledge, experience, and enjoyment of the benefits of sport to the next generation of disabled people. Their ambition is to work with other top class disability coaches and support staff to deliver their unique and innovative method, which harnesses the best on offer to as many disabled athletes as possible, from social members to elite athletes.

Weir Archer Athletes at Paris 2024

Weir Archer Academy athletes and alumni were a major presence in the Paris 2024 Paralympics athletics programme, showcasing their talent on the world stage. The club is incredibly proud of all who competed, inspiring the next generation. Whether watching from home or cheering in the Stade de France, young athletes saw firsthand what’s possible with dedication and support.

About John, Sports Therapy & Rehab

John is an Osteopath who has been qualified for over 27 years, specialising in trauma and sports injury. He has had an interesting career working in professional sport, ranging from professional football, American football and ballroom dancing to musical entertainment, Olympic equestrians and the armed forces. He still lectures and organises varying strapping and rehab courses.

About Jake, Asst. Head Coach, Head of Strength & Conditioning

I am the assistant head coach at the WeirArcher academy. I have had the opportunity to work with athletes at all levels from Beginner to Elite. Working with disabled athletes challenged me to adapt and apply prior knowledge from athletics in a different technique. having the opportunity to work with athletes of all levels has also allowed me to develop a well rounded knowledge of the sport and natural progressions and regressions that can be applied.

About Finn, Lead Nutritionist

Having obtained a BSc honours in Sports & Exercise Science and my MSc in Applied Sports Nutrition I am now currently employed by Nuffield health as a Health and Well Being Physiologist utilising practical skills and knowledge from my undergraduate degree whilst using my extended knowledge gained from my masters and my time working with the WeirArcher academy. At the WeirArcher academy I implemented an educational nutrition programme including body composition assessments, to improve knowledge of nutrition and sporting performance.
